A Capital Campaign for a New Century

Our Congregation has undertaken its first ever Capital Campaign. Our goal is to raise $300,000. The reasons are clear. Our buildings, used by so many, are in need of so much. The shoring up and strengthening of our buildings, the upgrading of our electrical systems, the replacing of our heating and the expansion of our parking are all the real needs of an active and vital community oriented congregation. It is also our response to the future church. It is our call to be ready with a facility that stands ready for a new century. Thus the funds gathered in this campaign will not only upgrade our buildings but will also position our congregation to respond to the new and challenging ministries of tomorrow.

"God is Still Speaking"

For many in today's world, it may seem that God has fallen silent. For us at The Congregational Church in Killingworth, United Church of Christ, however, we believe that God is still speaking, and will continue to speak, to prod, to encourage, to suggest and to support.

We the members of the Congregational Church in Killingworth, United Church of Christ, understand that God is still active in this God's project. It is this God who spoke to our forefathers and encouraged them to settle on this land and to build our meetinghouse. It is this speaking God who has guided and encouraged us for these past 236 years. It is this encouraging God who was there in times of feast and in times of famine. It is this loving God who is constant in times of plenty and in times of want. It is this God who helps us to fashion a vision.

We are a congregation that is proud of our history, a history rich and interwoven with Killingworth's history. We are a church that is even more excited about our future.

While our meetinghouse is almost 200 years old, the good news is that we are ever young in our thinking. We are a welcoming church that enjoys its blessings and shares them with our greater community. The good news is that the future of our church ministries looks even busier.
