GROW Your FAITH

SUNDAY SCHOOL

We are committed to nurturing children and youth as they grow in faith. Our Sunday School and Confirmation programs provide age-appropriate opportunities to learn about God's love, explore Scripture, and build lasting friendships in a caring and supportive environment.

Throughout the year, children and youth participate in a variety of special events and traditions, including our Sunday School Kick-Off Sundae Celebration, Thanksgiving pumpkin bread baking for our homebound members, the Christmas Pageant, and our Maundy Thursday Seder Supper.

Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month, and children of all ages are encouraged to participate alongside their families.

All of our children's and youth programs are conducted in accordance with our Safe Church Policy, ensuring a welcoming and secure environment for every child.

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION

Faith is a lifelong journey, and we're here to grow together. Our Christian Education ministry provides opportunities for children, youth, and adults to explore Scripture, deepen their faith, ask meaningful questions, and discover how God's love shapes our everyday lives. Whether you're new to the Bible or have been walking with Christ for years, you'll find a welcoming place to learn, grow, and belong.

At The Congregational Church in Killingworth, we believe faith is nurtured not only through study, but through conversation, service, creativity, and shared experiences. We encourage open hearts, curious minds, and a willingness to explore how God's presence is revealed in both extraordinary moments and everyday life.

Throughout the year, our Christian Education Committee offers a variety of opportunities for spiritual growth, fellowship, and community engagement. Programs may include Sunday School, Bible studies, seasonal Advent and Lenten studies, youth gatherings, intergenerational learning, book discussions, guest speakers, workshops, and family-centered events designed to strengthen faith across every generation.

Christian Education also extends beyond the classroom. Our committee has organized and supported mission and service opportunities that allow our faith to become action. These have included community service projects, food and clothing drives, care packages for those in need, support for local organizations, intergenerational outreach, mission collections, and volunteer opportunities that make a tangible difference in the lives of our neighbors.

Looking ahead, we envision even more ways to live our faith together, including:

  • Community service days and neighborhood improvement projects
  • Environmental stewardship initiatives and creation care programs
  • Mission trips and regional service opportunities
  • Vacation Bible School and family faith events
  • Seasonal workshops and educational series
  • Partnerships with local schools, senior organizations, and community nonprofits
  • Intergenerational mentoring and hands-on mission experiences
  • Special speakers, retreats, and faith formation events

As our congregation continues to grow, so too will the opportunities to learn, serve, and share God's love. We invite everyone—from young children to lifelong learners—to join us as we grow in faith, build meaningful relationships, and put our beliefs into action through lives of compassion, service, and hope.
